Alex Hodgkin
Alex has significant experience in the areas of financial advisory and valuation. He spent the first part of his career as an investment banker with Salomon Smith Barney and later Headwaters MB. He has completed engagements involving strategic alternative reviews for multinational corporations, liquidity strategies for middle market entrepreneurs, sell side advisory assignments, equity and subordinated debt offerings in the public and private capital markets, and fairness opinions. During his time spent as a banker Alex developed relationships with a broad spectrum of executive managers, private equity professionals, hedge fund investors, transaction attorneys, and entrepreneurs.
As a valuation practitioner, Alex has considerable expertise providing valuation advisory services to the high net worth and institutional investor communities. He has provided over one hundred valuation opinions which have addressed issues in the tax, financial reporting, transactional, and litigation domains. Alex often deals with tax complexities arising from deferred compensation and wealth transfer activities, level three fair value measurements, and transactions involving special assets and illiquid interests. He currently participates as a member in the Appraisal Issues Task Force.
He is involved in both nonprofit and educational causes as an organizer of the “Friday Night Fights” charity event to benefit the Morgan Adams Foundation and a board member of the alumni association of Claremont McKenna College. A devout follower of the freshwater school of economics, Alex makes the pilgrimage to the University of Chicago as a student in the Weekend MBA program at the Booth School of Business every week.
